The Imo State Government House Press Corps has recognized the Honourable Member representing the Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency, Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, popularly known as Omeogo, Ogbaturuenyi Na Orlu, with an award for Exemplary Leadership in Legislative Advocacy.
The award ceremony, held at Protea hotel, Owerri Imo State, celebrated his outstanding contributions to legislative duties and his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
The delegation, led by Prince Uba on behalf of the Chairperson of the Government House Press Corps, Mrs. Nkoli Chukwumaife, highlighted the reasons behind the decision to honour Hon. Nwachukwu.
Uba praised Omeogo for his remarkable achievements at the National Assembly, noting that his legislative efforts have positively transformed the lives of his people.
“We are here today to celebrate a man who has consistently demonstrated dedication and commitment to the betterment of his constituency. Omeogo, your record of effective representation, coupled with the numerous empowerment initiatives you have championed for your constituents, has set you apart. This award is not only a testament to your hard work but also to the trust and admiration you have earned as one of the trusted allies of the Imo State Governor,” Uba declared.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu expressed deep gratitude to the Imo Government Press Corps for recognizing his efforts. He lauded the Corps for their dedication to disseminating information about the activities of the state government, particularly those of the governor. According to him, their work has been instrumental in amplifying the achievements of the administration.
“I sincerely appreciate the Imo Government Press Corps for this honour. Your commitment to ensuring the people are informed about the activities and progress of this administration is commendable. I urge you to continue leveraging your tools of communication to project the remarkable achievements of our governor, who I proudly refer to as my boss. Without your relentless coverage, many of these activities would remain unnoticed,” Omeogo remarked with gratitude.
The occasion took an emotional turn when Hon. Nwachukwu dedicated the award to his late colleagues who lost their lives during political struggles. Reflecting on their sacrifices, he emphasized the need to remember their contributions to democracy and governance.
“I dedicate this award to my fallen colleagues who paid the ultimate price during political struggles. Their courage and dedication to the cause of good governance inspire me to continue my work with even greater resolve,” he stated solemnly.
