There is need for more collaboration among communicators - Prof Nsude

 



 A call has gone out to communicators in the academia and the industry to collaborate, exchange ideas and contribute more meaningfully to sustainable development in Nigeria. Professor Ifeyinwa Nsude,  the Deputy National President of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), made the call last Thursday during the end of year get together at Eagle Royal Hotel, Abakaliki.


 Professor Nsude of the Department of Mass Communication, Ebonyi State University, commended ACSPN’s role in the unbundling of mass communication in Nigeria. She said that the association had done a lot for the communication industry in the country through seminars, workshops, conferences and other engagements.


 The occasion, which also featured the inauguration of  a new executive of the association for the Ebonyi State chapter, was graced by the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Jude Okpor (represented by the Director of Information, Mr Egwu Anya Nkama); Comrade Tony Nwizi, the Director General of Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation; head of the department of Mass Communication, Ebonyi State University, Dr. Agatha Oji Egwu; the  General Manager of Radio Nigeria, Unity FM, Abakaliki, Dr. Mcsylvester Ndolo; Head of Public Relations Unit, Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Mr. Oji  Uzodinma (represented by Mr Dickson Nnachi) ; Mrs Daphne Nnenna Eteng, Head of Public Relations at the King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu); and the Head of News, Unity FM, Abakaliki. Mrs Juliana Okoro.


 Speaking at the get together, the Commissioner for information pledged increased collaboration between his ministry and ACSPN. In his own speech at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Honourable  Tony Nwizi, said that 2024 tested the resilience of the association and featured many memorable achievements as ACSPN took a lot of steps to further achieve its goals.


 Buttressing the calls for collaboration, the Head of public relations at FETHA joined the other dignitaries to pledge that he will encourage his staff to join the association and actively participate in activities.


The new executive sworn in at the occasion, had Dr Joe Chukwu, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo, taking office  as Co-ordinator, Ebonyi State Chapter of ACSPN.
