A philanthropist, Dr. Matthew Chima Amadi, has advocated for good leadership in Imo, even as he urged the people to rise against bad governance in order to instill positivity and sanity among leaders.
Amadi said such a step when taken would cause the discernment of spirit of good governance and purposeful leadership and hence engender social development and economic prosperity in the state which he said is richly blessed with human and material resources.
Amadi made the call while addressing a mammoth crowd during the official inauguration of The Mazi Organization (TMO), Owerri Bloc, held at Government Technical College (GTC), Owerri, on Tuesday.
Amadi was bitter that the docility of citizens on taking decisive action against rulers who he accused of destroying the patrimony, as well as syphoning the state's treasury give them edge for bad rulership, urging people to know their rights and stand firmly to defending them with a view to improving and internalizing peace, goodness and actual development of the society.
Amadi, who said that "I represent a new way of doing things", regretted that the infrastructure: Education, healthcare system, power sector and other institutions have been destroyed as none of them is working uptimally, leaving the people to endless penury and suffering.
"We need to restore sanity in Imo State. Imo people should rise and reclaim the state. It is bad that every patrimony that our fathers left for us has all been recklessly destroyed by today's leaders, the hotels, farm settlements, hospitals, schools, industries, among others, are not working well. How will they work well when these leaders cannot even run their own businesses", he said.
Saying it is not yet time for him to play politics, Amadi told The Mazi Organization Coordinators to go into the villages, towns, communities and local government areas to conscientize the people of the good intention of The Mazi Organization in helping them to meet their needs, as well as critically resist bad leadership in the interest of the state.
In his address earlier, the Coordinator of The Mazi Organization, Comr. Obioma Onwuegbucha, noted that TMO "is a force dedicated to empowering our communities and achieving political and developmental goals. TMO serves as our guiding principle and commitment to this noble cause, thanking Dr. Chima Amadi for being a blessing to humanity.
Among other leaders who graced the event were, a notable politico, Okenze Obinna, former Imo State House of Assembly Members who represented Ngor-Okpala and Ihitte-Uboma State Constituencies, Hon. Blyden Amajuruonwu and Hon. Crown Njoku.
