Chief Barrister Ezekwere Daniel Okafor, Principal Partner of Eze Okafor & Co. Legal and Technical Adviser to the Government of Nigeria, delivered a compelling closing speech at the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) seminar, representing over 140 participating countries.
The seminar, hosted in Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Industries Demonstration Zone, highlighted global cooperation and knowledge exchange in agriculture, food processing, and sustainable development. Addressing an audience that included high-ranking officials from China and representatives from nations like Iraq, South Africa, Tanzania, and Myanmar, Chief Okafor expressed profound gratitude to the People's Republic of China for its hospitality and initiative.
"We extend our deepest appreciation to our Chinese hosts and President Xi Jinping for their visionary leadership in fostering international cooperation. The BRI has the potential to reshape global trade and economic landscapes,” Okafor noted.
Participants explored diverse agricultural innovations, visiting institutions like the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University and prominent industrial hubs. The delegation also experienced China's rich cultural heritage, touring landmarks such as the Great Wall and the Temple of Heaven.
The seminar emphasized key learnings in viticulture, enology, mechanized agriculture, and food security. Chief Okafor praised the practical sessions and insights delivered by leading Chinese academics, stating, "Our knowledge of agriculture has been expanded with empirical and scientifically modified techniques that hold great promise for our nations."
Highlighting the economic potential of youth participation in agriculture, Okafor lauded Chinese companies for engaging young professionals, reflecting the theme of sustainable development.
He concluded by proposing a toast to enduring partnerships fostered through the BRI, pledging Nigeria's commitment to reciprocating the goodwill shown during the seminar. “This mutual extension of hands of fellowship will yield substantial economic benefits for all our nations," he affirmed.
The seminar, a cornerstone of the Belt and Road Initiative, further solidified diplomatic ties and bolstered agricultural collaborations among participating nations.
