The Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Professor Uchefula U. Chukwumaeze, SAN, FCArb, has delivered the 2024 Archdiocesan Day celebration Odenigbo Lecture, of Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, entitled; IWU CHUKWU: AKAMGBA CHERE NDI OMEIWU OKAIWU, OBIIKPE, OCHEKWAIWU NA UMUMMADU (God's Law: A Challenge to Legislatures, Lawyers, Judiciary, Law Enforcement Agents And Humanity) in grand style, amidst commendation.
This was contained in a press release signed by Mr. Onyekachi A. Nwaozor, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of Imo State University, Owerri.
The lecture which took place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Obiri Odenigbo, Villa Assumpta, Owerri, the Imo State Capital, began with other Programmes on Friday, September 6, 2024, featured wrestling (Mgba Odinala), Owu Cultural Dance, Bible Recitation, Different Dance groups, Drama, and others, as well as Holy Mass on Saturday, Odenigbo procession, the lecture and others.
While Speaking to Journalists after delivering his lecture, the erudite scholar and Distinguished Professor of Law, stated that his lecture summarizes that, "God should be at the center of every public office and activity. He added that the Legislatures should do their work, remembering the Law of God, and the Judiciary and Lawyers should have the Laws of God as their anchor, as well as the Law Enforcement Agents and the General Public.
Speaking further, the Umuokpoko, Amucha-Ebeise in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State born Professor and numerous award winner, revealed that, "these Laws of God is summarized by Christ, who asked us to love God with everything we have and to love our Fellow Human Being as ourselves. If we apply these two Laws, the world will be safe and better for all".
The giant academic and prolific writer, former Head of Department and Dean Faculty of Law, former Dean, of the School of Postgraduate Studies, and the Present Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, however, encouraged the younger ones to learn and speak Igbo language. He hinted that Imo State University has introduced the Igbo language as a general course for all undergraduate students of the university as a way of sustaining the Igbo language.
Professor Chukwumaeze's lecture which he prepared in 9 parts and eloquently delivered, received numerous commendations from guests who said that "he did Justice to the topic, it was the best so far, that he took Odenigbo Lecture to a different level, that his presentation was done in Igbo language fluently, that his delivery was 100% lively," among other commendation.
High point of the event was the presentation of plaque to the Odenigbo Lecturer by the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Dioceses, His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji. Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the event.
