Cross section of Final year students at Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri has expressed their frustrations over the ongoing ASUU strike which began on the 20th of September while appealing to the Imo State government and university management for urgent intervention.
They argue that the indefinite strike is severely disrupting their academic progress and future prospects as the strike began during their final examinations.
Following the demands of Imsu- ASUU chapter which have been left unattended to by the state Government raging from issues of salary disparities, delayed promotions, and non-payment of allowances.
The students have called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to address their concerns, emphasizing that timely resolution is crucial for their graduation and overall educational experience.
They affirmed that while they understood the importance of addressing every grievances,their education must not be sacrificed in the process after a large number of students adhered to the non payment of school fees,no exam.The students are calling on Governor Uzodimma and university management to prioritize dialogue with ASUU to find a resolution.
As the situation develops, students remain hopeful that their voices will be heard and that a resolution can be reached soon, allowing them to focus on their studies and future aspirations without further delay.
" We are not happy with this development, how can the Lecturers embarked on strike at the middle of our exams, it is not right, they should have allowed us to finish our exams, the school management told us, no school fees no exams, we have to tasked our guidance to pay the school fees and now this, please Imo state government should look into it, because those that work deserve their salaries" they submitted.
