Tinubu Submits N70,000 Minimum Wage Bill to House for Approval

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday submitted a bill to the House of Representatives proposing a new minimum wage of N70,000.

This move follows a series of negotiations between organized labor, the private sector, and the federal government, leading to the agreed-upon wage.

The letter from President Tinubu, read by Speaker Rep Tajudeen Abbas on the House floor, outlines the provisions for establishing a new national minimum wage and the necessary legal framework for its implementation.

Tinubu urged lawmakers to expedite the bill's passage to ensure its immediate enforcement for the benefit of Nigerian workers.

In a separate letter, the President also sought an amendment to the Nigeria Police Act under section 58 of the 1999 Constitution.

The proposed amendment aims to address the appointment and tenure of the Inspector General of Police.
