The Sole Administrator of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, Hon. Kizito Onuoha has distributed palliatives to the 11 political wards in all the autonomous communities as part ongoing effort to cushion the effect of subsidy in the state.

The food items distributed with the help of the 11 ward chairmen ,the president Generals, the palliatives committees and also the executives of  Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Chairman Ngor-Okpala chapter led by Comrade  Echereodo Emmanuel ( Ecko)  include corn, garri among others.

Distributing the relief items at the council Headquarters in Umuneka on Thursday, the Sole administrator said the palliatives were intended for the poor, the downtrodden, and those struggling to afford food due to the recent fuel subsidy removal.

The council boss further said it was sourced from the National Strategic Food Reserve through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Imo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

He noted that a template was provided for the sharing of the palliatives, the wards, the special citizens, security agencies, and civil servants among others.

While addressing the ward chairmen and the president Generals,  the young and vibrant Solad advised them to ensure that the downtrodden in their various wards get their share of the palliatives, noting that the sharing should be transparent and without any form of favoritism.

Hon. Kizito also used the opportunity to inform the ward leaders and the President Generals about the federal government conditional cash transfer forms which were given to the state government by the Federal Government to help the citizens cushion the effect of fuel subsidy.

According to him,"The state government allowed them to register  400 persons per ward for the payment of fifty thousand( 50,000) for six months, thereby encouraging them to ensure that the people of their community fill in their data correctly especially their BVM which will help in the payment."

He appreciated the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led Administration for facilitating the safe arrival of the food palliatives in the state.

The palliative was distributed peacefully and in an orderly manner without any discrimination. The people of Ngor-Okpala appreciated the Governor for the food relief they received.
