Tragic End: UNIZIK Graduate Loses Life Due to Prank Gone Wrong

For five years, Miss Ifunanya Miracle from Abia State diligently pursued her degree in Quantity Surveying at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.

Alongside her studies, she managed a point-of-sale (POS) business to support herself financially.

Sadly, her promising future was cut short by a tragic prank last week.

Described by her colleagues as quiet and dedicated, Ifunanya was the beacon of hope for her family.

The incident that led to her untimely death occurred while she was completing her clearance for graduation.

Chief Safety Officer (CSO) of UNIZIK, Chief Ken Chukwurah, explained that Ifunanya and a fellow student were traveling in a tricycle when a male student made a joking remark about robbing them.

Startled, the girls jumped out of the moving tricycle. Unfortunately, Ifunanya hit her head on the road, leading to fatal injuries.

Despite efforts to save her, she passed away, while her friend sustained non-fatal injuries.

The male student involved in the incident stayed with the girls, aiding them to the hospital and later turned himself in to the police.

Understanding the prank's unintended fatal consequence, the families of both parties reached a peaceful resolution, with the boy’s family agreeing to cover the burial expenses.

This heartbreaking incident has left the university community and Ifunanya’s family in mourning, reflecting on the fragility of life and the unintended consequences of a careless joke.
