The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Imo State Chapter convened at the Imo Youth Centre, Owerri, for the Senatorial Management Committee Meetings and the inauguration of local government area executives on December 23rd, 2023.
Chaired by Comr. Humphrey Osuji, the Imo Youth Council Chairman, alongside officials like Anyanwu A. Nmachi and representatives from various zones, the meeting addressed key challenges hindering youth progress in Imo State.
Resolutions included a Vote of Confidence on Governor Hope Uzodimma for his developmental strides, appreciation for peace efforts led by the Judiciary and Comrade Isidore Chukwuemeka, and plans for a Security Summit to promote peace and discourage crime among the youth.
Additionally, the expired tenure of the 27 Local Government Executive Council (LEC) members was officially dissolved, paving the way for the formation of Caretaker Committees (CT) in line with the NYC Constitution 2018. These committees, proposed by Comr. Prince Joseph Ogbonna and endorsed by Comr. Blessing Onwumere, will oversee NYCN affairs at the grassroots level.
The resolutions reflect the dedication of youth and their leaders to tackle challenges, appreciate stakeholders, foster peace, and prioritize youth security and well-being in Imo State. Furthermore, the support shown by various local youth leaders for the incumbent Government underscores their willingness to collaborate and revitalize the Imo State Youth Council.
