VOLPO Distributes Christmas Gifts To Indigent Widows, Less Privileged Persons

 



The Voice of the Less Privileged Organization (VOLPO), on Thursday, organized an end of the year party for indigent widows and some less privileged persons in the state.


The occasion which took place at Graceland estate, Egbeada-Owerri, attracted widows and the downtrodden across the 27 LGAs of the state.


Addressing a cross section of the widows, the Founder of the organization, Barr. Mrs. Ego Queen Ezuma, noted that it was necessary to celebrate with the widows and the downtrodden in the society during festive seasons, adding that her experience as a widow spurred her into celebrating them.


She admonished the widows to be of good behaviour, by avoiding acts capable of undermining their progress as women without husbands'.


Barr Mrs Ezuma pointed out that the organization is not sponsored by any politician, but herself, for the purpose of alleviating the sufferings of the widows and the less privileged persons in the society.


She enjoined women to be ambassadors of righteousness, adding that such will give them better opportunities to cater for their needs.


She disclosed that the organization is open for any widow who wants to join,  and urged interested persons to register in order to be informed about subsequent empowerments.


In his speech, the Imo State Commissioner for Special Projects, Hon Stanley Obidiegwu, commended Barr. Mrs. Ezuma for her love and care for the less privileged and widows, and asked her to continue her good works.


Contributing, the Chief Executive Officer of SIGNA Medical Limited, encouraged women to ensure they undergo regular medical checkup in other to be on the good side of health, adding that her hospital was set up to attend to the health challenges of the downtrodden in the society.


She described Barr Mrs Ezuma as a personality who has distinguished herself in all aspects of human endeavours, especially in the protection of the rights of the widows.


The highlight of the occasion was the distribution of 10kg bags of rice, kitchen utensils, and cash of N5K and N10k respectively, including other domestic materials to the widows and the less privileged persons.


The team of doctors and nurses from SIGNA Medical Limited were also on ground to check the health condition of the attandees.
