It was a suprised political package last Wednesday as Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, CFR who earlier in the year announced to his numerous political supporters and associates of his resolved to retire from partisan politics announcing to his kinsmen that henceforth that his political activities will hing on things that will be beneficial to his Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru (Mbaike) Federal Constituency.
Iwuanyanwu disclosed this while presiding over the well attended stakeholders sociocultural harmonization meeting of the two council areas, that's Mbaitoli and Ikeduru ( Mbaike) that constitutes the Federal Constituency at his Glass House office Complex, Ugwu Orji, Owerri, Imo State.
The Community Leader who gave historical insights into the political and sociocultural affinities of the two council areas that are in one Federal Constituency (Mbaike), passionately expressed his life time vision and mission for the revival, sustenance and maintenance of the status quo in the overall benefits of the present and future generations of the area.
He canvassed for a unification umbrella, which he named Mbaike People's Assembly and was unianimously adopted and appealed for the need to constitute 18 man interim management committee to pilot the affairs of the assembly for three months so as to prepare grounds for the Federal Constituency Cultural day, constitution and election.
The assembly granted the submission prompting Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo of Mbaitoli local government area to be announced as the interim President, Chief Charles Amadi(Shavon) of Ikeduru LGA was announced as the interim Vice President while Barr. Uche Osuji, announced as the interim Secretary General, all the other positions were announced and filled in accordance with the zoning arrangement of the two council areas. There was a rift over a chosen Youth Leader which was amicably resolved.
Ahaejiagamba as Iwuanyanwu is popularly called and known, immediately inaugurated the interim management committee with the task of preparing the assembly's constitution in which membership will be a product of birth and marriage rights, organizing Mbaike's one day befitting unity cultural fiesta and general election for the body.
He pointed out that the two council areas are products of military administration's creation and further revealed efforts he has made in recent times in Abuja to ensure that Ikeduru LGA are divided into two(ie Ikeduru East & West local government areas respectively), under the present democratic dispensation and wish for similar overture to Mbaitoli, thus demanding for a committee that would aid him in facilitating the gesture.
In his response shortly after they were inaugurated, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo ( Marcon) expressed gratitude for their appointment and assured to patriotically achieve the mandates given to them within the timeline.
Nlemigbo informed that the formation of the assembly has no political under tone but rather to encourage brotherly and sisterly love as well as unity of purpose.
The meeting was honoured by all the President General's,women and youth leaders, top politicians, artisans, traders of the two council areas.
