The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has pledged to turn Imo into the Malaysia of Africa through adequate utilisation of the palm trees in Adapalm.
Obi while addressing a mammoth crowd during his presidential rally held at Kanu Nwanko Sports Arena Owerri expressed sadness that while Malaysia makes the amount of Dollars equivalent to what Nigeria makes from oil, Adapalm in Imo has been moribund for more than forty years.
The Ex-governor of Anambra State also highlighted the capacity Imo State has to make millions of Dollars from cassava.
Obi assured the people of Imo State that his government would end poverty in Nigeria.
He regretted that despite the fact that Imo state receives a yearly allocation of #80 billion, the people of the State are still suffering. He promised to return peace to Imo by ensuring that insecurity is completely eradicated in the State.
Labour Party Presidential candidate made sound and clear promise to use the seaport in Port Harcourt, Rivers state to export all agricultural products from Imo State to the international market, where they are highly demanded for.
Also speaking the state chairman of Labour Party, Dr Ambrose Onyekwere expressed immense gratitude to the people of Imo State for coming out in great numbers to welcome the man of the moment.
Dr Onyekwere assured Peter Obi and his running mate that Imo State is 100% Obedient, emphatically stating that the State will deliver 90% of the votes to Labour Party.
Vice presidential candidate of Labour Party, Sen.Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed told the people of Imo that he represents the desires and willingness of all Alhajis, Malams, Ahjias and all the people of the core North to welcome a new Nigeria, which will be made possible by the Presidency under the astute political administration of Peter Obi.
He expressed happiness with the crowd that came out to interface with them, concluding that such was a conspicuous show of unconditional love for his principal, Peter Obi. Datti said what he saw in Owerri is a clear indication that the people of South East is solidly behind their own.
Peter Obi was accompanied to the state by his wife, Mrs Margaret Obi, the Director General of his campaign council, Dr Doyin Okupe, Prof Uzodinma Nwala, his lecturer at the University, Sen. Victor Umeh, Isah Yusuf, Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo, Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, Sir Tochukwu Chinedum Okere and host of other dignitaries.
