Umuoziri Community Primary School Field in Inyishi Ancient Kingdom in Ikeduru Council Area of Imo State was electrified on Saturday 29th October,2022 during the celebration of the new yam festival of the Community.
The annual traditional ritual event was graced by people from all walks of life including captain of industries, business and political classes.
However,all component villages of Inyishi Community were present during the occasion dressing in their traditional attires.
While cultural dance groups entertained the guests.
The Chairman of Okwelle Foundation and Traditional Prime Minister of Amaimo Ancient Kingdom,High Chief Nwabueze Justin Awurum was honored by Inyishi Community as "Ishi ihe" of Ikeduru.
Other awardees were Chief Magnus Ibeh, Ojiofor Chris Onyemaechi and others too numerous to mention.
Presenting the awards to the awardees, the traditional ruler of Inyishi Ancient Kingdom,HRM Eze Andrew Nnanna Osuji (Durumuruike of Inyishi) noted that the awardees have contributed immensely in the area of community development recalling that High Chief Nwabueze Justin Awurum single handedly donated and installed solar power light at Inyishi water scheme.
Eze Osuji described the new yam festival as a "home coming" event that consolidates the peaceful coexistence of the community members.
He expressed happiness that the 2022 edition of the new yam festival went successful thanking the Almighty God for keeping them alive to harvest their yams this year.
"This is an event that always bring opportunities to our female children for inter marriage because people from all walks of life always grace the occasion with fun glimpsing of our beautiful damsels. So, I thank everyone who contributed in one way or the other for the success of this event. Let me seize this medium to appeal to any aggrieved member of Inyishi Community to shealth his/her sword and support the developmental action plans of the community", the monarch pleaded.
In appreciation,High Chief Nwabueze Justin Awurum thanked Eze Osuji and his cabinet chiefs for honouring him noting that the award will spur him to continue his humanitarian and social services to man kind.
Another award receipiant , Ojiofor Chris Onyemaechi expressed happiness that this year's new yam festival was brought to his Umuoziri village describing culture as a root where people originated.
Earlier, the Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for Ikeduru State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly come 2023 general elections, Chief John-Leo Iheoha pledged his total support to Eze Osuji.
Chief Iheoha solicited for the full support of his people to enable him win the House of Assembly seat insisting that it is the turn of Ikeduru East to produce the next House member.
He recalled that he has done much for his people and would continue to do more if elected the lawmaker for Ikeduru State Constituency.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chief Paul Ofoegbu expressed happiness that the event went successful.
