Imo State Governor, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodinma has applauded the state House of Assembly ably led by Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem for their commitment towards the general welfare of the people.
The Governor gave the commendation in his address during the presentation of the 2021 proposed budget titled, "The Budget of Wealth Creation", on Wednesday.
The Imo first citizen also commended the synergy that exists between the Assembly and other arms of government in the state, courtesy of the leadership ingenuity, humility and humane disposition of the Speaker.
He said, "Mr. Speaker, Honourable Members, I will not conclude this address without putting on record the uncommon commitment Honourable Members have always demonstrated in ensuring synergy in the machinery of government, and smooth governance in the state therefrom.
"Not once have you failed to promptly discharge your legislative duties to the people of Imo State when called upon. I am truly proud of you. I anticipate that in your usual dogged commitment to the welfare of Imo people, the 2021 budget of Wealth Creation, will receive accelerated consideration and passage."
In the same vein, former principal officers and members of the House including Rt. Hon. Okey Dike (former Deputy Speaker), Rt. Hon. Dr. Jones Uzoka, (former Majority Leader), Rt. Hon. Nkem Nwankwo (former Chief Whip), and Hon. Emma Dike described Rt. Hon. Emeziem as a man who has the legislative and leadership potentials to achieve positive results.
According to Rt. Hon. Okey Dike, "I see Paul Emeziem as somebody who whenever he finishes serving, people will remember him for his good works."
And Nwankwo said, "You know before Paul emerged, there was an uproar in the House. And because Paul is someone who carries everybody along, his colleagues voted and made him the Speaker.
"And since he emerged as the Speaker, we, the former principal officers and members of the House, have been very supportive of his leadership because we know and believe that he is going to do very well."
"Paul has that humility to serve the people and because he is serving very well, I have no doubt he will make remarkable difference." Uzoka added.
Contributing also, Hon. Emma Dike said, "I want to say without any fear of contradiction that the new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem is the man for the job. And I strongly believe that with him working hand in glove with our Governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma, by the special grace of God, Imo will be better."
