Imo Speaker collapses OPPM to APC

The Okigwe Peoples Political Movement (OPPM), a socio-political body of political leaders in Okigwe zone has collapsed into the All Progressive Congress (APC), courtesy of the new Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem.

The famous socio-political body in Okigwe zone has membership numbering over 20, 000 with strong presence in all the over 600 political wards in the area.

To demonstrate their strength and total support for the Speaker and present government of Sen. Hope Uzodinma in the state, OPPM led by Clan Chief Tonyblack Nduka alongside other leaders of the body stormed the APC final campaign rally for Okigwe Zone senatorial bye-election held at Okigwe Stadium, on Thursday with over 2000 members. 

Speaking at the rally, Rt. Hon. Emeziem said that he was committed to uniting all political structures in the zone and galvanizing the support of the entire Okigwe people for the Governor Uzodinma's administration and APC.

He thanked the governor for his political ingenuity and kindness, shown to him and the people of the zone through appointments of Okigwe indigenes in his government and laudable developmental projects sited in the zone. 

The Imo Speaker posited that the recent flag of the the reconstruction of Owerri-Okigwe road was evidence of the Governor’s immense love for Okigwe people, stressing that the road would boast the economy of the people.

He urged the people to join him in thanking the governor for making  his emergence as the new Speaker possible, while reaffirming his total and unalloyed support and loyalty to the Governor.

Rt. Hon. Emeziem also solicited the massive support of the OPPM, and the entire Okigwe people for APC, saying that a vote for the party and its authentic candidate, Frank Ibezim would ensure developmental transformation of the zone.

"No doubt, I am who I am today because I work for Governor Hope Uzodinma. If you work for Hope, you will become a speaker like me, you will become a minister and you will become anything you want to be politically. He is one man that rewards loyalty and genuine support.

"I want to thank the OPPM for identifying with me and I want to appeal to you all and the entire people of Okigwe Zone to massively vote for Frank Ibezim in this Saturday election. I want to assure you that you will never regret doing so because I am certain that with our Governor backing him, he will sure deliver." he said. 

Meanwhile, speaking to newsmen at the event, Tonyblack reiterated OPPM's total support for the Speaker, stressing that the body has declared to join him in APC to render to him the needed assistance to succeed in his new assignment for the state. 

He also expressed optimism that with the collective support from OPPM, APC would emerge victorious in the Saturday's senatorial election in the zone. 

Tonyblack said, "As far as OPPM is concern, this  Saturday's election is already won by APC. OPPM has all it takes to deliver the votes 100 percent for APC and that we are going to do this Saturday.
