I will work for posterity, new Imo Speaker assures

The new Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem has said that he would work to achieve records that would endear him to Imolites and posterity. 

This was as he reassured that the House under his leadership would remain committed in addressing the plights and concerns of the people through healthy legislations. 

Rt. Hon. Emeziem stated this when he received the leadership of Imo State University, (IMSU), Alumni Association led by the National President, Mr. Ferdinand Akano, who were in his office, Tuesday, on a courtesy visit. 

The Speaker added that he is poised to welcome suggestions, advice and supports that would enable him deliver on his expectations for the general good of the people. 

The Onuimo LGA born lawmaker also promised to ensure that the House corroborates with the association for its continued growth, development and progress. 

He said, "I sincerely want to thank you for this visit; for recognizing my new position and appreciating me as one of your own. 

"I will continue in my resolve to use this my new office to make lasting impacts on the lives of our people. I will do my best to imprint my name for posterity."

"Today and always, I want to assure you that my doors are open for you and everyone. I will deeply appreciate and welcome every input that will help me succeed. Just as I am committed to always identify with you and your needs.

"I also want to implore you to join hands with me in support for the present administration in the state led by His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma. Together, we shall achieve a better Imo." Emeziem added.

Earlier his speech, Akano said the visit was to felicitate with the Speaker on his recent emergence which he said has restored a high level of decency, tranquility and transparency in the state House of Assembly.

He also urged the Speaker to galvanize the House leadership and membership towards a greater synergy with the state governor in order "to bring prosperity and real value of governmenance to Imo people."

He said, "We know you to be an intelligent personality and there is no iota of doubt in us that you will make the best of this opportunity to place Imo State House of Assembly among the most vibrant and coordinated State House of Assembly in Nigeria.

"We also believe that your wealth of experience in corporate governance and legislative research will engender the enactment of pieces of legislations, that will make Imo State a viable economic hub of the South East, so that Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) in all spheres of activity will troop into our dear state.

"May God continue to imbue you with wisdom to chart a more progressive and result oriented leadership in the Imo House of Assembly, and may the strategic relationship between the office of the Speaker and the Imo State University Alumni Association yield positive results that will advance the cause of our university and the government of Imo State."

The Speaker received the delegation alongside his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, House Chief Whip, Hon. Barr. Arthur Egwim and the member representing Nkwerre state constituency, Hon. Prince Obinna Okwara.

While other leadership member of the IMSU Alumni on the visit include  Dr. Anayo Uhiara (National Secretary), Miss Vivian Obasi (Asst. National Financial Secretary),  Prince Kingsley Tasie (National Provost) and Mrs. Constance Anyim (Imo Chapter Asst. Financial Secretary).
