A group, South East Coronavirus Intervention Network (SCIN) has advised the Federal Government to reinforce measures to curb the possible fresh Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in the country.
This was as some European countries have reintroduced strict series of measures and also announced partial lockdown to arrest the rising Covid-19 infection rates in their areas.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, yesterday, the group's National Coordinator, Hon. Meekam Mgbenwelu said the advice became imperative to put the government at all levels and other concerned agencies on their toes against the dreaded virus.
He also admonished Nigerians especially health practitioners and those that mingle with foreigners to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from the possible spread of the virus.
According to Mgbenwelu, immediate past Commissioner for Technology Development in Imo State, "efforts must be made to sustain the previous achievements recorded in curtailing the spread of the virus in the country."
He said, "even as efforts are ongoing to completely curb the spread of the dreaded virus in our system, it is obvious that we are yet to recover from its effects on our economy and social lives.
"So we are concerned to warn Nigerians about the imminent second wave of the virus as well as advice the government to intensify efforts towards combating the spread.
"From available records, our adherence to precautionary measures of Covid-19 were not that promising and there is need to reiterate seriously on that. Our previous experience should be a huge lesson to all of us. No stone should be left unturned."
